The 25-year-old striker made the switch to the south coast from Wigan at the end of January to help John Mousinho’s squad in their League One promotion push. It could hardly motion push. It could hardly have gone better as he netted four goals in his first ten games to play his part in Pompey’s glory bid.
It culminated in promotion - and the title - thanks to a dramatic 3-2 win against Barnsley at an electric Fratton Park on Tuesday night. Trailing 2-1 to the play-off chasing Tykes, Portsmouth turned it around late on thanks to Colby Bishop's penalty and Conor Shaughnessy's 89th minute winner.
The delirious scenes of celebration as supporters poured on to the pitch at the final whistle are something that Merseysider Lang won't forget in a hurry.
