Players, managers, clubs and fans were recognised for their achievements at the Grosvenor House Hotel in the capital last Sunday, with Leeds winger Summerville edging out the second tier’s top scorer Sammie Szmodics (Blackburn) and Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to take the top prize.
The 22-year-old Dutchman has weighed in with 17 goals and eight assists for the promotion-chasing Whites.
“I like the fans, the atmosphere, the intensity, everything really,” he told BBC Sport. “As a young kid I had a dream to play in the Premier League and in England.
“We always believed (we could chase down Leicester) otherwise we wouldn’t be in the position we are now. We have to keep doing what we do and we have three more finals to reach our plan (of achieving promotion).”
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna bagged the Championship’s Manager of the Season accolade. The 37-year-old led the Tractor Boys to promotion from League One last term and has masterminded another remarkable campaign this time around. He beat Leeds boss Daniel Farke and Hull’s Liam Rosenior to the honour.
