The visitors were gifted the lead after just 43 seconds as a comical mix-up in the home defence allowed Dilan Markanday to roll the ball into an empty net.
And, after soaking up plenty of second-half pressure from the hosts, Ollie Banks provided the assist for fellow substitute Will Grigg to net twice in the closing stages to seal the three points that lifted their side to seventh in the table ahead of the Saturday games.
“The early goal was obviously a mistake from them, but it summed up Dilan Markanday’s performance by chasing down a potential lost cause,” said assistant manager Webb.
“That set the tone and it’s a big help going 1-0 up within a minute away from home against a really loud home crowd.
