The Iron boss’ throat was as hoarse as you might expect straight after Tuesday night’s win as his side came from behind to beat Aldershot Town 2-1 through Kyrell Lisbie’s double.
It banked their first three points of the new season and got them up and running following their promotion through an epic National League South play-off campaign.
“The step up is huge – absolutely huge,” Harrop says. “We’re not full-time but we train three days a week. The fitness and athleticism of this league is such a big difference. I put it as much as the Championship to the Premier League. The jump is huge.
“But we knew that. Last year when we didn’t have a game, I watched the National League. It’s the league I want to be involved in so this isn’t new for me, I knew it would be tough.
“This year is all about staying up. Consolidate, build the structure of the club and keep improving.
“I can tell people straight. We are going to lose games, win games, it’s going to be up and down.
“But there’s a management team here who are working hard and we will give it our best shot.
“The fans made a big difference tonight. They were right behind us. We’ll just keep working hard and take one day at a time.”
