HOW BIG IS INFOSYS?

India is no longer a country known for its indigence and cultural diversity. Thanks to its software engineers and ambitious entrepreneurs, who paved the way for their nation to become one of the economic giants in the world. Over the last few decades, the country has achieved many milestones in various sectors, like being the world's fastestgrowing economy to earning a place amongst the top-notch countries in scientific research with its space exploration and moon missions.

We have heard the entrepreneurial stories of American business tycoons such as Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg but, unfortunately, haven’t taken any interest in our entrepreneurs until they started hiring a PR team that complements their skills. However, not all entrepreneurs want to show off in the media and Infosys founder N. R. Narayan Murthy is one such persona, who may be worth billions of dollars, but he is still the common man or, in other words, the quintessential underdog.

THE EARLY DAYS OF THE INFOSYS

The company was founded with the name “Infosys Consultants Private Limited” in July 1981 by N. R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishnan, N. S. Raghavan, S. D. Shibulal, Ashok Arora, and K. Dinesh. The amount for its initial capital, J10000, was provided by Sudha Murty, the wife of N. R. Narayana Murthy. The company relocated to Bangalore from Pune in 1983 when it cracked its first deal with Data Basics Corporation from the United States, and since then never looked back.
