HOT FIVE #1
M3 TO DO WHAT I WANT, ANY OLD TIME
Apple MacBook Pro (M3)
The only people who usually get excited about the M3 are fans of Fleet Services. And who can blame them? How many motorway rest stops do you know with a Pizza Express that’s been described as “romantic”? (Not our words, the words of Bart K on Trip Advisor.) For everybody else, though, the most exciting M3 is the rip-snorting new processor generation you’ll find inside Apple’s latest 14in and 16in MacBook Pros.
Both laptops are faster and more efficient than before, but how much depends on which chip you choose. The most powerful of all is the M3 Max, which can be paired with up to 128GB of RAM and 8TB of storage. But that spec would set you back £7299, so you might be more tempted by the M3 Pro, which gets up to 36GB of memory and 4TB of storage, while even the basic M3 (14in only) can be bolstered by 24GB of RAM and a 2TB drive. Whichever one you pick, there’s a brighter Liquid Retina XDR display and a battery that’ll last up to 22hrs – which should be plenty of time for a trip to Hampshire’s most romantic layby.
As hot as… a date with Bart K at Pizza Express, Fleet Services from £1699 / apple.com
Ain't it black? Choose an M3 Pro or Max model and you can have it in Space Black, which we're told has a special seal (they don't like it being called a coating) to reduce fingerprints.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess - It's really not what you expect from a major publisher these days, but Capcom's curious blend of action, real-time strategy and tower defence is one of the most original games you'll play all year
It's really not what you expect from a major publisher these days, but Capcom's curious blend of action, real-time strategy and tower defence is one of the most original games you'll play all year. From its colourful costumes to a pastoral message of healing nature, Kunitsu-Gami is proudly Japanese in its inspirations. Your masked warrior is on a mission to help a divine maiden purge a mountain of an evil 'defilement'... but this is no Link/Zelda dynamic: you'll also rely on villagers to help you beat back monsters.

Cygni: All Guns Blazing
Is this just a nostalgia trip, or does it genuinely offer something new to make it as memorable as the top-down shooters of yesteryear?
Scott Contessa Voltage eRide 910
This is an electric trail bike designed with women in mind – not that you’d know that just by looking at it, because thankfully Scott hasn’t adopted the insulting ‘shrink it and pink it’ approach that many brands take.
Squareless whisper
This budget smartwatch sequel from the Nothing sub-brand no longer looks like an Apple Watch wannabe... but can it improve on the original?

SENNHEISER HD 490 PRO
CAMBRIDGE AUDIO EVO ONE
Considering how much the Evo One costs, slicing and dicing your veggies on it probably isn't the smartest idea.
