Amazing Animal Stories

Lemurs

In May, two adorable black and white ruffed lemurs were born at Blair Drummond Safari Park in Scotland. The species is critically endangered, meaning they're at an extremely high risk of extinction. The park participates in a breeding programme with an aim of building a healthy population. Keeper Lesley Rodger said, "As with all lemur species, black and white ruffed lemurs are native to Madagascar, where they play an integral role in their local ecosystem. They actually act as pollinators, just like bees!"

Badgers

Nine badger cubs were successfully reared at the Scottish SPCA's National Wildlife Rescue Centre. They were all found alone, underweight and much too young, so needed additional care and monitoring from a team of wildlife experts. The group were named after insects, with the babies being dubbed Maggot, Midge, Louse, Lady, Bug, Beetle, Cricket, Slug and Grubb! Thankfully, the cubs have improved leaps and bounds, and impressively, even accepted each other enough to form new clans! The cubs were released back into the wild as groups.
