She's not around to offer a grandmotherly guiding hand, but Princess Diana's influence can clearly be seen today in the way her boys Prince William and Prince Harry are raising their own children.
And William at least is copying her loving and down-to-earth parenting skills when it comes to his kids Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, reckons former royal bodyguard Ken Wharfe.
Ken has just written a book - published to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Diana's death at the end of this month which offers a revealing insight into the kind of mother Diana was, and what life was like behind the scenes for William, 40, and Harry, 37.
He was the police protection officer for Diana and the boys for seven years, and although he's retired, he says Diana's legacy is plain to see.
"I believe that what we witness with William and Harry now is that their mother laid the foundation for the fathers they have become," says Ken, 73, in Diana: Remembering the Princess.
We don't get to see Harry with his children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, but William's interactions with his kids are of the way he was reminiscent brought up by Diana.
