When Eamonn Holmes started throwing truth bombs at ITV following Phillip Schofield’s departure, it was almost unfathomable that his wife, Ruth Langsford, had to turn up to ITV Towers for work the next day. It was undoubtedly an awkward day at the office.
Eamonn accused ITV of ‘covering up’ Phil’s affair with a young colleague, saying, ‘Four high members of ITV management knew what sort of man he was... and never once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people.’ He also dismissed ITV’s denials that Holly and Phil ‘jumped the queue’ at the late Queen’s lying-in-state, saying, ‘ITV lie.’
ITV, which has launched a review into its handling of Phil’s affair, has remained tight-lipped on the matter, responding just once publicly. Yet Ruth still works for ITV, hosting Loose Women. And now, unsurprisingly, fans have noticed that things seem less than harmonious between her and Holly Willoughby, who also bore the brunt of Eamonn’s harsh words…
‘Brutal disdain’
Viewers have picked up on tension between Ruth and Holly, thanks to ‘uncomfortable’ handovers between This Morning and Loose Women. Ruth seemed to be gritting her teeth during one awkward live link, and fans were quick to point out that she failed to address Holly during another, refusing to say her name and instead bluntly saying, ‘Hiya.’
