If you’ve been keeping an eye on inflation (the rate at which the cost of goods and services rise), you’ll have seen that it is still at a near 40-year high – and food inflation is at an all-time high of 17%. So, when it comes to everyday spending, it seems there is little escape from higher prices. But there are ways to slash the cost of your shopping bill, including these top tips, that could save you money.
Open a cashback account and save up to £180 a year
Most of us now pay for things by card, so make sure you use one that gives you money back on your spending. If you open an account with Chase Bank (and there’s no reason why you can’t have more than one bank account) then its current account gives you 1% cashback on your everyday spending for 12 months – that’s money back on groceries, travel, meals and fashion.
From 1 May, new customers joining the bank will have the cashback capped at £15 – so you can get something back on spending up to £1,500 per month. Plus, you must pay at least £500 per month into your current account to qualify for the money back. Visit chase.co.uk for more information about how it works.
