'Your name is part of your identity'
Dhruti Shah, 43, lives in Middlesex.
It is not just annoying when people say your name wrong, it's quite disrespectful. My name is Dhruti, it's only six letters long and easy enough to say pronounced 'Dh-roo-thi - but I've been called Drutee, even Dirty!
I've had people pronounce my name wrong my entire life. When I was younger, I'd be frustrated but not say anything. But now I'll flag it up the first time it happens rather than let it slide. I don't want it to get to a point where it's embarrassing for everyone and I'm misidentified for no good reason. If people can say the name of Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky, then they can say my name correctly!
Your name is a part of your identity and is valuable, so when it's bashed up, mangled and brushed off as no big deal, where's the respect?
