Whenever the sun comes out, instead of celebrating the free vitamin D, I start worrying I should be making more use of the great outdoors. Not that I’m competitive, but my neighbours own an industrial-scale trampoline designed to house at least 10 children at a time – all wanting to jump and scream in glorious airborne ecstasy. When it’s not serving as a base for a junior rave, it appears to be the perfect piece of equipment to keep their parents fit and limber, particularly on sunny days. Recently when I heard the creak, creak of the springs going up and down, it was a salutary reminder that I, too, should be doing something outside to improve myself. All that rush of air to the brain is good for positive thinking.
