Unless there's a summer drought or it suddenly starts pouring, we tend not to think much about water or how we use it.
We're lucky to have clean water literally on tap, yet we often waste it without thinking. That's bad news for our world, but also our bills.
Almost a fifth of the energy we use in our homes goes on heating water. The water watchdog Ofwat says that using water wisely and cutting down on the amount of hot water we use will lower gas and electricity bills. It will also reduce the amount of climate-changing greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. So here are some easy ways to plug the cash drain.
