Robert Irwin "broke the hearts of thousands of young girls across the world", according to fans, when he went Instagram official with girlfriend Rorie Buckey late last month.
But sources say the 19-year-old had to win over the conservationist's family first via an Irwin-sanctioned "Rorie was under no illusion "bootcamp"! that she was being 'tested' by the Irwins, and she passed with absolute flying colours. She knew this was coming and even joked about being a wildlife warrior trainee," an Irwin family insider tells Woman's Day of the teen, who joined her boyfriend on the 2023 Croc Research Trip, which provided "critical data" for the Wildlife Warriors Worldwide foundation.
Judging by their snaps, Rorie was more than happy to camp out and get her hands dirty.
"She was determined to not let Robert down and show him - and his mum and sister! - that she's not just some puff piece. And she blew them all away," says the insider. "She had no issues removing spiders from tents, holding snakes and even getting up close to a croc with Robert. Nothing rattled her, and even Terri was impressed."
