Ask any seasoned traveller about holidaying with children and they'll tell you the number one rule is to expect the unexpected. However, a little bit of prep can go a long way.

As an experienced globetrotter, digital nomad and mum-of-two Sarah Tarca has visited four continents and eight countries, travelling for six months at a time.

"Before the pandemic rudely interrupted my fun, I was travelling for five years, first with my partner, then my son (now three), and now with another one-year-old boy in tow," she explains.

"We've travelled by plane, sea, bus and train for hundreds of thousands of kilometres, both abroad and across Australia. Was it all Instagram moments and power ballads singalongs? Almost never. But was it worth it? Absolutely."
