ON THE DARK SIDE

She grew up playing quirky, dark characters – including, most famously, the pig-tailed Wednesday Addams – so it’s little surprise that Christina Ricci loves her latest role in shocking survival drama Yellowjackets.
With a career in film and TV spanning more than 30 years, California-born Christina, 45, was only 11 when she made her breakthrough in The Addams Family.
She later played Wednesday’s teacher in the Netflix show Wednesday and is happy to be associated with the part that made her famous.
“Wednesday is still the character I’m best known for,” she says. “I spent a ton of time in my childhood playing her and she had a huge influence on me and my career.
“I still feel very influenced by her. I spent a ton of time identifying with her and I’m happy that Wednesday is still a huge part of my life.”
OFFBEAT ROLES
As a teenager, Christina gave memorable performances in Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm and Tim Burton’s dark tale Sleepy Hollow, alongside Johnny Depp. Indeed, she has said of herself: “I’m not a rom-com kind of girl.”
