School REUNION!

WATERLOO ROAD
TUESDAY, 8PM, BBC1 DRAMA (BOX SET, BBC iPLAYER)
Following a successful reboot earlier this year, BBC1 drama Waterloo Road is back for a new term this week – and long-time fans will be delighted to see a familiar face making a comeback.
With everyone still reeling from last series’ shocking climax, which saw pupil Danny Lewis (Adam Abbou) stab his mum’s lover in an act of self-defence, head teacher Kim Campbell (Angela Griffin) decides to spearhead a campaign to tackle knife crime at the secondary school.
Her efforts result in her crossing paths with ex-deputy head, English teacher and former flame Andrew Treneman (played by Jamie Glover), who viewers last saw in series four (2009), when he resigned to take up a teaching post in Rwanda.
TV Times caught up with Angela, 46, and Jamie, 53, to get their reports on the surprise reunion…
So, Angela, where do we find Kim at the start of this new seven-part run?
ANGELA Kim’s dealing with the fallout from the stabbing involving student Danny. As a former head of pastoral care, Kim feels a responsibility and wants to help him. But as a head teacher, Kim must consider the entire school and knows she can’t let someone back who brought a knife in. So she’s hugely conflicted.
Kim knows the school has to do something to tackle knife crime. However, she doesn’t realise the person coming in to offer support is… Andrew Treneman!
