En este asunto

‘Energy Ensemble’ was one of the media partners at the Energy Forum at Sopot in Poland in mid-December. In a way, it was Energy Ensemble’s first overseas exposure, since its launch in April last year. The excitement therefore was understandable.
There was a fairly tall vertical standy right at the entrance of the main auditorium with the logo and masthead of our magazine. The carry bags with the conference kit, which were distributed among 500-odd delegates and speakers also the magazine logo. So had the forum directory with names, photographs, bio sketches and brief synopsis of the presentations. There was also a separate table in Hall C wrapped with our banner and with our magazines and CDs nicely laid out on it. The audio-visual presentation made on the magazine was also being shown on the giant screen within the auditorium almost on a regular basis.
We had not realized at that point of time that there were more excitement and more moments of encouragement in store for us. Soon after the formal presentation was made in front of a gathering that comprised the virtual who’s who of the energy sector from the central and eastern Europe, the US and some other countries, the huge interest amongst the audience about India was only too palpable.
From the overwhelming response anyone could have jolly well made out that India with its over 1.2 billion population, its experience of getting successfully transformed from a State-run economy to a liberal free market economy, its fast emergence as a global economic powerhouse is a country of great interest for them. The types of interest were wide ranging.
There were quite a large number of companies who are in possession of sound clean technologies are keen on bringing their technologies to the large Indian market. There were companies who want to tap the India’s fast emerging renewable energy sector.
There were companies in the conventional energy sector, who on their parts, are serious about taking a lesson or two from India on how we had and have been handling problems pertaining to labour and trade union issues, environmental issues and so on.
The bottomline is that the interest is there and European companies, mostly in green energy sector, would only be too delighted to foray into India and explore the large market, where renewable energy sector is still at its nascence.
More government to government and company to company interfaces and cooperation are need of the hour to translate that interest into action. In a market driven global economy market dynamics are such that supply side or source of technology, product or service does not wait indefinitely for a particular demand source. As the famed economist J B Say would have liked to say, ‘supply creates its own demand’. If not India they would go to some other market and the technology would eventually create its own market. Timing therefore is going to be of utmost importance.
