Highlights of India Today Tamil issue dated December 31st, 2014. 1. The cover story is about the Taliban's suicide strike on a Peshawar school that took away the life of 149 innocents including 132 children. This the heavy price paid by Pakistan establishment for nurturing terror in the pretext of keeping its enemies (read neighbourhood nations like India) at bay. Whether the nation destroy the terror network at least after it has started eating its own citizens? Sajjad Khan gives a detailed analysis.

Another rpart of the cover story is by Husain Haqqani, Pakistan's former envoy for the US, who says the nation should come out of its fantasies of parity with India by nursing Jihaids as a strategic asset.

2. Another big story is about Tamil film Super Star Rajinikanth whose recent film Lingaa has highly disappointed fans and critics. The story analyses whether the persumed Rajini Magic, which made people think and propogate that his inclusion in a film is enough for its commercial success and people acceptance as well as his super star image, has shaken especially due to the advent of young filmmakers and artistes who dare to be different and offer novelty in content to the audience.

3. The special story is about a big change in the December Carnatic Music season has largely been restricted to certain spaces and addresses only a certain class of people. A group of musicians including Singer T.M.Krishna have come together to hold a music and dance festival at Urur Olcott kuppam - a fisherman's village. This festival that featured diverse art forms and in the process attempted to remove the hierarchies that exist within the art world. The organisers hope the celebration of the arts will help in connecting people.
