It’s hard to believe that 28 years have flown by since my late husband, William B. Hawke, and I embarked on the journey of Diplomatist Magazine. I can still picture us in 1996, inspired by the need to build a publication dedicated to diplomacy in New Delhi’s foreign mission circles. Back then, Delhi was a different place—quieter streets, and fewer faces in the crowd. But the spirit of collaboration and curiosity was alive and thriving. Our first issue, Ubuntu, dedicated to the South African High Commission, marked the beginning of something deeply meaningful. We poured our hearts into that project, and its success fueled our passion to keep moving forward.
