Our double-issue profiles the partnership Baldwin Guggisberg's work expressed in a collection of exquisite vessels that celebrate the nature of hot, molten glass. Our graphic design profile Viva & Co. features the image-maker, art director, brand developer and writer, Frank Viva who moves easily between art and design. Ed Kinsella's sophisticated visual approach blends realism and abstraction with humanity on full display. Photographer Nigel Parry is best known for insightful, intriuging portraits of celebrities, politicians and famed cultural icons. In addition we look at interesting designs, review new books in art and design and feature the winners in our juried competition 45 and 46. Work includes advertising, graphic design, illustration, photography and fine art.

We want this magazine to be different from anything out there. More interactive. More inspirational. A magazine where there is a mutual exchange of ideas between the magazine and our readers.
In looking at the current crop of art and design magazines we find it hard to find the articles for the plethora of ads that surround the content. More importantly it’s rare that you find publications that inspire your everyday work. True, there are profiles of artists and designers but rarely do they inquire as to where the inspiration for their work comes from. This a valuable thing to know. We’re all inspired by different things, it’s usually either a person, place or thing. Finding that source of inspiration helps you establish your own voice which influences the work you do professionally.
At Creative Quarterly we want to play the role of gathering these different points of inspiration and allow you to see objects, artists, designers and photographers that you may not have seen before. We’ll provide you links to interesting sites that may not have a direct bearing on your work but are interesting ideas and after all that’s what we’re all interested in. Visual ideas. Ideas that can be re-interpreted in paint or pixels. Not to copy, but to be inspired.
Our search runs the gamut from advertising to architecture, fashion, sculpture, jewelry—things that interest us as artists and designers. We sort through numerous web sites and blogs to bring you fresh ideas. We open up new sites for you to bookmark. We introduce you to industry leaders who will give you insight into their methods of workingÑtheir story. We locate books we feel will be an interesting read. We ask important artists, photographers and designers to share their work with us. And lastly we showcase the work of emerging artists and designers as well as the practicing professional in our quarterly competitions.
Our hope is by representing both the next generation and those currently working in the marketplace there will be a sharing of ideas. Ideas that spawn new ideas.
