Paul Tapner shows why he’s an amateur in name only with a scorching clear
BRAVE and bold riding was rewarded in this year’s rematch as the eventers took to the hallowed Hickstead turf in the MS Amlin eventers’ challenge. Paul Tapner’s “calculated risks” paid off as he swept to victory with his own Bonza King Of Rouges, clinching the 2017 title with a time of 127.75 seconds.
“He’s very careful, very brave and fast — he’s the type of horse you’d expect to excel in this type of class,” said Paul, who is now an “amateur elite” rider after giving up his professional status to work full-time for the Event Rider Masters (ERM) series.
