Hunting And The Election

Urgent steps are needed to counter the anti-hunting groups’ strategy on our parliamentary candidates.

WHEN Jeremy Corbyn mocked Theresa May for “bringing back foxhunting and grammar schools” as if the Conservatives are returning to some bygone and outdated era, he knew precisely what he was doing.

He was playing a cynical game with people who probably don’t think too deeply about either issue, yet feel both are somehow unfair and wrong.

As a boy from a council estate who had the chance to better himself through the grammar school system, I dispute Corbyn’s claim. As someone who has seen the hunting debate from both sides, I also object to him and his supporters using animal welfare as a political tool. It may be politics, I suppose, but it shouldn’t mean we let these deliberately misleading statements on hunting go unchallenged.
