SHOWCASE events will run alongside the 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG) to celebrate horses and raise the profile of equine sport.
The inaugural annual World Equine Expo, which includes the WEQx Games and World Horse Day, will be held at Tryon during WEG (11-23 September).
The expo will be an annual event to “honour, celebrate and promote horses and horsemanship”, featuring a trade fair, demonstrations, seminars, clinics and panel discussions, plus an equine art and film festival.
Para reining will be part of the WEQx Games, which aims to boost spectator and commercial interest in equestrian sport.
Ricky Balshaw is one of the British riders hoping to compete.

Rider Denies Doping After Team Loses Olympic Placing - Tine Magnus and the Belgian team said they do not know the source of the drug that caused the positive test
Olympic eventer Tine Magnus has denied ever doping after her Paris ride Dia Van Het Lichterveld Z gave a positive test at the Games. This means the Belgian team, which came fourth, has been disqualified. On 4 September, the FEI said the 10-year-old mare, owned by Kris van Vaerenbergh, tested positive for trazodone, which is listed as an antidepressant on the FEI's prohibited substances list.
