Reasons for buying an electric fence
The main reason for investing in an electric fence is not to keep the hens in, but rather keep foxes, martens and similar animals out. To be effective the fence must be electrified. It is an important step to consider, since there are non-electric solutions.
Poultry are some of the more challenging animals to keep. Their thin legs and insulated beak and feathers mean a powerful energiser with a high voltage output and high shock strength is recommended. The same powerful energiser acts as an effective deterrent to the predators.
