THE 18TH EDITION OF the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY), promoted by JK Tyre since inception along with India's top automotive journalists, was held at a gala event in New Delhi. These awards are the most coveted and prestigious in the Indian automotive industry. Among those present were prominent businessmen, automobile enthusiasts, and visionaries.
The Kia Carens won the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) Award. The jury members awarded this MPV the largest number of points. While the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was the first runner-up, the Mahindra Scorpio-N was the second runner-up.
The ICOTY, instituted in 2005, is considered the most prestigious award in the Indian automobile industry. The jury comprises subject-matter specialists from the top automotive journals and media outlets and winners are chosen after carrying out a thorough research. Eighteen renowned automotive writers and editors, including Car India's Editor, Aspi Bhathena and Deputy Editor, Jim Gorde, were members of this year's panel.
