He’s played a key role in developing the “Impact 2.0” design language which has shaped several Tata models, including the Nexon, Harrier, and Tigor. Till recently, Uhlarik was the Head of Design at Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) and now has taken over from Pratap Bose as the Head of Global Design, Tata Motors. He will continue to operate from the TMETC in the United Kingdom and will lead the teams in Tata design centres in Coventry (UK), Turin (Italy), and Pune (India). We caught up with the designer to get to know if things would take a new direction with him at the helm of product design
You have been with Tata Motors for a while and you understand the needs of the company’s customers. What are the strengths that you will continue to focus on?
One of the strengths that we will continue to focus on is the constant understanding of what the customers are looking for. It’s very important that we understand the values and needs that our customers require from our products. And that helps us design a better product in the end.
Is there any new brief, now that you’ve taken charge? How do you plan to keep the customers engaged?
