The impact and influence of the original Range Rover should never be underestimated. It can be argued that it begun a niche that has developed into a market-wide phenomenon. Quite whether the manufacturer was ready for such a success is open to debate, and it certainly took a while for the revised version to appear. When it did, the competition had grown significantly. This meant that where the original model was a superb yet simple concept, its replacement needed to offer an awful lot more.
