The Harley-Davidson VR1000 racer of the 1990’s was the core inspiration for Adelaide Harley-Davidson Bike Works to build this national winner of the Australian and New Zealand Battle Of Kings.
The styling reflects the racing heritage of the VR1000 and the raucous exhaust note recalls the heady days when the Roaring Sporties were in full flight around Aussie racetracks. This race-inspired XL1200Roadster is the real deal with H-D rear-set foot controls, clip-on handlebars and a custom-made fairing. Much of what you see is from the Genuine Parts & Accessories catalogue combined with additional top shelf products to complete a distinctive custom creation, which does totally encapsulate the look and feel of speed. It’s a clean and clever portrayal of the quintessential racing bike.
BLAIR FREETH – DEALER PRINCIPAL, H-D BIKEWORKS
“When we first thought about the Battle of the Kings, my initial impulse was to go with a Sporty because of the VR1000. As a kid, I saw a film of the VR1000 racing at Daytona, even then thinking it was something pretty special.
Also as a kid, I watched the Roaring Sporties at the Mallala racetrack and have strong memories of that. My dad, Frip, has long been in the Harley scene and took me out to watch the racing and with a couple of the riders being locals we had a strong identification with it and took a keen interest in the results.
