In the world of racing video games there's little more exciting than the arrival of a new, numbered Gran Turismo title. Social schedules must be cleared, weeks off work must be booked and significant others must be informed that their use of the big telly will now be referred to as 'visitation rights”. It's hard to believe, but it's been the thick end of a decade since Gran Turismo 6 came out on the PS3 and while GT Sport did a fine job of keeping the flame burning, it was lacking an important - perhaps the most important - element, GT Mode.
GT Mode, for those unfamiliar with the series, is the car collecting campaign mode that forms the meat of any mainline Gran Turismo game.
In Gran Turismo 7, out on 4 April on PS5 and PS4, it begins exactly the same way it always has, with you browsing classified ads for a previously loved snotter that can be tuned up into a race-winning machine.
