Audi’s second generation V10-totting coupe is not just superb; it is also a great daily drive
The first-generation Audi R8 has shown the world, just what an entry-level sports car can achieve. Given that it still costs more than what an insurance pays out for the loss of certain limbs and even organs, the Audi R8 was still a great performer against its much more costly Lamborghini cousin, the Gallardo. During its years of production, the first-generation Audi R8 had spawned various models, such as the V10 model, Spyder variant, the racy lightweight GT and limited LMX specs. There was even an all-electric e-tron version that was made during the final stages of the firstgeneration’s production run.
Showing so much promise and having finished a good nine-year stint, the first-generation Audi R8 bid us a fond farewell as Audi AG unveiled the sports car’s second-generation descendant. Given that it has been almost a decade since the R8 was first developed, there has been a massive leap in super car engineering and the second-generation R8 certainly has a lot of expectations to meet.
The folks at Audi AG weren’t exactly fazed by the seemingly uphill task though; having learnt many lessons and taken experiences from the development of the latest bits of technology from the Volkswagen Group through the years that include improvements made to chassis, engine and drivetrain departments, the second-generation Audi R8 is now a true, serious contender in the super car market.
