To Have And To Hold

Actors Radhika Apte and Ayushmann Khurrana—the curators of everything cool, whether in film or fashion—come together to show us an edgy bridal fiesta never seen before.

To Have And To Hold
When Radhika Apte and Ayushmann Khurrana came together for Andhadhun in 2018, it seemed like a pairing that had just been waiting for the right time, it was inevitable. Two of the most talented actors of their generation, who have built a reputation for picking films and roles that are neither the traditional nor the stereotypical, Khurrana and Apte are legitimate forces to be reckoned with. For Khurrana, 2018 saw both commercial and critical successes in Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho, while it could be argued that 2018 was the year of Radhika Apte with the release of Padman, Lust Stories, Andhadhun, Baazaar, Sacred Games, and Ghoul. When we were shortlisting names to shoot with for our anniversary edition, was it any surprise then, that our minds immediately jumped to Apte and Khurrana?

RADHIKA SPEAKS

WE KNOW THAT YOU’VE WORKED IN SHORT FILMS, WEB SERIES, AND DON’T FEAR EDGY CONTENT—WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE ALTERNATIVE MEDIUMS LIKE NETFLIX, AMAZON PRIME, ETC.?

I think it’s quite logical that they have come up, it’s the future. As technology moves ahead, you will have different platforms and different things that you’ve never imagined before and you have to move ahead with them. Platforms like these have a lot of advantages, so I think all these mediums can coexist.

DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE AN ACTOR OR WAS THAT SOMETHING THAT CAME YOUR WAY? IF YOU WEREN’T AN ACTOR, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?

I think I always wanted to be an actor! If not an actor, I don’t know what I would be and I really haven’t thought about that (laughs)!

YOU WORKED WITH AYUSHMANN FOR THIS COVER STORY, AND YOU WERE ALSO HIS CO-STAR IN ANDHADHUN—SO WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING WITH HIM?
