Japan and India have formed a joint initiative to ensure a greater relationship with the African Development Bank (AfDB):
India and Japan would have more opportunities to work with each other to pursue opportunities in Africa. This includes the private sector enterprises in the two countries.
Three Japanese agencies - the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in association with India have decided to partner with the AfDB. Japan and India have teamed up to support Africa’s development. This is one of the major breakthrough that has been revealed during the 52nd Annual Meetings of AfDB recently held in Ahmedabad.
To resuscitate Japan’s economy, its economic activities should expand beyond accustomed areas. As part of this endeavor, Japan tries to catch up with China in Africa for building broader and sustainable connection between Asia and Africa through the collaboration with India, says Katsumi Hirano, executive vice president, JETRO.
