Trend Spotting: The Best And The Brightest

Those featured in BW Businessworld have gone on to become the stars of the future. BW Businessworld has also been known for celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit and ecosystem of the land. In its flagship Young Entrepreneurship Awards (YEA), running into its fifth year now, BW showcases the budding stars who will become the unicorns of tomorrow.

This year’s awards and the entire process were no different from the previous years’. In fact, they only got more demanding. The nominations, the screening process, the jury process — everything was world class.

There were hundreds of entries out of which 125 nominations for the YEA process were taken. Of those, Grand Thornton shortlisted 80 entries as eligible for the next round. Out of the list of 80, 36 entries were shortlisted by each Jury member. BW Businessworld’s edit team collated the jury scores to finally get to the common 49 shortlisted ones. These 49 shortlisted were reviewed via physical presentation, Skype presentation or their nomination forms.

There were two different categories for the nominees — the first category was for nascent-stage entrepreneurs who have just started or have reached three years of their journey (0-3 years). The second category was for those who have been in existence for more than three years but less than 7 years (3-7 years).

Phase one included inviting nominations online. A total of over 125 entries were vetted by the BW Businessworld editorial team to ensure the completion of forms with requisite details. These shortlisted entries were presented to a jury panel that then deliberated on the final winners in a jury meet. Entries were scored by all jurors including the Jury Chair, and an average scoring was followed to arrive at the top winners.
