Why Water Features In Hospitals Can Work Wonders
Landscape Middle East|March 2018

Sidra Medical and Health Research Center has recently opened its doors to the public in Qatar. The ultramodern all-digital academic medical center is set to provide world-class patient care for women and children in Qatar, as well as patients from the Gulf region and beyond.

Why Water Features In Hospitals Can Work Wonders

One of the hospital’s outstanding features is the multiple indoor and outdoor water features that dot the courtyards and corridors. Designed by Cesar Pelli, a famous Argentine American architect, Sidra medical clinic has a main hospital building and a separate outpatient clinic, which contains unique water features designed and built by Middle Eastern design specialist Watermaster Qatar.

“One of the reasons why water features provide added value to clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other medical hubs is that water has a therapeutic effect that helps lower blood pressure and improves physical and mental health,” says a Watermaster’s spokesperson. Besides that, “studies have shown that hospitals that include water features will not only reduce stress levels, but will also lessen the pain from patients recovering from a surgery.”
