CAD/CAM TOOLS SHAPE THE IDEAS OF THE designers and enable the product’s journey from concept to the market. Hence, the solution providers are dependent on the manufacturing industry. The last year was relatively challenging for the manufacturing industry and so was for the CAD/CAM industry. Speaking elaborately on it, Vineet Seth, Managing Director – South Asia & Middle East, Mastercam APAC says, “While we finished with a high YoY growth, despite the challenging circumstances for the industry as a whole. My opinion is that it could have been still higher. The business environment was challenging over the past eight months, which I am sad to say, is likely to carry further until the third quarter of this calendar year. We took the opportunity to expand and setup offices at three major cities in the country, last year.”
The slowdown was mainly noticed in the automotive segment. However, it still contributed to Mastercam India’s growth. Commenting on the same, he says, “Despite the slowdown in the automotive growth last year, it accounted for a little over 30% of our business. Aerospace, Die & Mould, Defence and Heavy Engineering contributed in good measure, leading to our double digit YoY growth.”
