Lapp India Aims To Double Current Turnover

Share with us Lapp’s India story - the major milestones and achievements of the company.

Having made an investment of €2.1 million, the Jigani plant is the second largest manufacturing unit of the Lapp Group. In 2012, Lapp India completed the first phase of its second manufacturing plant in Pilukedi, Bhopal, which today produces more than 216,000 kms of single core cables per annum, catering mainly to the building cable segment. In 2014, the production area at Jigani was also doubled and a new multi core line was commissioned in Bhopal with a total investment of over €5 million. In 2015, Lapp India provided about 140,000 km of power, control, data and instrumentation cables along with connectors, accessories and end-to-end systems to over 4,000 active customers pan India spread across different industry segments. Another key milestone for Lapp India is supplying 2 GW grid connected solar projects since 2010 and bagging orders for more than 350 MW of PV projects since October 2014.

How has the Indian market grown and matured over the years?

India’s wires and cables market has transformed itself from a small industry majorly dominated by unorganised players to a large and dynamic sector where organised players have 50-55 per cent of market share (Ken Research). Over the years, the industry has evolved from offering standard products to now offering specialised products and customised solutions to meet customers’ application specific requirement. With the growing demand for customized solutions, manufacturers are able to prove themselves as reliable partners. By providing plug and play solutions, these customized solutions meet the top-line growth of their customers which the standardised ‘off-the-shelf cables and conductors generally do not.

What is Lapp’s value proposition in the competitive Indian market space?
