Investment in training has multiple benefits. Training increases productivity of the employees in manifold ways. Tyres, like training, provide a long-term return when treated with appropriate care. Ignore them and they come back to bite very quickly
Economic rationalisation, downsizing, efficiency drives – whichever label the spin doctors wish to apply in watching personnel with years or decades of experience and training walk out of the door, it can only be called a failing strategy.
A long-term strategy
Investment in training (‘investment’ is the apt term) is a long-term strategy which yields dividends over a time, and continues to pay dividends in time. You’re not going to make a huge profit by putting your money in the bank and garnering interest; but over a time, your investment will grow and the outcomes will increase. Unless you invest, there is little prospect, if any, for returns.

Tyre service personnel training
I read with great interest about the Indian Rubber Institute that has introduced a tyre service personnel training scheme. Having been active with the Australian tyre training qualification scheme for decades, I too lament the lack of progress in having the personnel who perform tyre service appropriately acknowledged and rewarded.
A tyre is a pressure vessel; personnel who service and maintain such pressure vessels should be qualified to provide safe outcomes. A tyre is not a simple device as many people assume.

INDIAN NR MARkET GETS A BREATHER
After the recent spell of poor prices mainly on account of growing imports and lower international prices, the Indian natural rubber market is witnessing a resurgence of late. The trend is attributed to the slump in production in the major NR producing countries like Thailand and Indonesia due to widespread fungal infection in rubber trees. Against this backdrop, indications are that domestic prices are all set to bounce.
