India has witnessed a lot of innovation through the years that has enabled the country and its citizens to overcome challenges and improve businesses and people’s lives, especially in the past one decade, said Dr. R S Sharma, Chairman of Empowered Group on Vaccine Administration and CEO of National Health Authority at the Voice&Data 20th Telecom Leadership Forum.
Speaking at the plenary session on policies and frameworks imperative for fostering foster talent and technology, he said that though the typical image of a bureaucrat is that of someone who doesn’t understand technology nor is open to innovation, there are exceptional people within the system who may not be great innovators themselves but have tried to collaborate and cooperate with innovators in order to create solutions for the well being of people and better governance.
“We have also realized that there are certain areas wherein lot of good things can be done through innovation and one such area is use of information and communication technologies. And I have been one of those passionate believers that India’s many intrinsic and difficult problems can be solved through technological innovations and interventions. In this context I think India has done considerable amount of work and progress when it comes to use of ICT,” he said.
