8 DAYS: You worked as a chef at your family’s resort in Malacca before being scouted to host shows on Asian Food Channel. What surprises you the most about being a TV host?
SHERSON LIAN: I find it hard to grasp [the fact that] many people actually watch my show, since I consider [TV hosting] as a job, not a search for fame. I feel very touched when people tell me that they started cooking after watching my shows. I was once approached by a mother and her daughter when I was filming in a wet market. The mother told me: “Oh, how nice it’d be if I have you as a son-in-law!” Her daughter and I just stood there, embarrassed. (Laughs) I’m already married and my daughter’s almost two.
