In conversation with HELLO!, the stunning entrepreneur Tanya Mallavarapu Reddy talks about all things luxury, sustainability in the world of glamour and her passion for designing ‘happy’ spaces

She finds joy in making people happy – and that’s exactly what defines Tanya Mallavarapu Reddy. The stylish Duke University alumnus – who hit the headlines when she tied the knot in a lavish ceremony with her long-time love, Apollo Group Chairman, Prathap C Reddy’s grandson, Harshad – shifted her focus from the economics and economies of the world to focus on her love for art and design. In a tête-à-tête with HELLO!, the fashionista describes her definition of style, her penchant for earrings, her love for white shirts and Manolo Blahniks, and why museums are one of her favourite places to be.

What’s Tanya Reddy all about – how would you define yourself in a few words?

(Smiles) “Oh, I would say I am friendly and easy-going. I am really dedicated as a person, be it towards my family and friends or my work. So, basically, I did my Master’s in Economics from Duke University. But then, I always had a strong interest in design. Even as a kid, I was always drawn to the arts. So, I started my own design firm and there has been no looking back!”

What does “style” really mean to you personally?

“It stands for comfort, for sure. But, essentially, style is the reflection of one’s personality – it’s all about who you are.”

How would you describe your own, personal style?

“I think a word that can truly describe me is ‘classic.’ I love classic styles and cuts – the sophistication it entails. While what I wear – formals or casuals – may depend on the occasion, I like to put in the effort to look good because it makes me feel good about myself.”
