TOM CRUISE is throwing beleaguered Alec Baldwin a Scientology lifeline in the wake of the notorious hothead’s involvement in a fatal shooting on a movie set, The National ENQUIRER has learned.
Sources revealed Baldwin, 63, has been in a downward spiral since the unexplained shooting during filming of the Western movie “Rust” in New Mexico. The freakish single-bullet incident left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and director Jeff Souza wounded.
Cruise, 59, was among the first to reach out to Alec following the Oct. 21 tragedy, sources said.
