Ruth Langsford talks to new about her milestone birthday, being a telly legend and looking forward to a new chapter

‘ I'll stay 59 until I can have a party!'

You might expect one of the nation’s most successful TV presenters to be a good conversationalist, and Ruth Langsford is in a typically chatty mood when we call her for a catch-up.

As we natter about her impressive TV career, she tells us after nearly three decades on our screens, she has no plans to take a break, saying, “I feel very lucky.”

As well as entertaining the nation alongside her husband Eamonn Holmes on This Morning every Friday and putting the world to rights as an anchor on Loose Women, Ruth is celebrating three years of her hit fashion range with QVC and tells us, “It’s so exciting because I didn’t see it coming. It’s a new chapter in my career and it’s running really well alongside the other things I do.”

Back in March, she reached another milestone – turning the big 6-0, which she says she’s “fine about”, although she adds, “Whatever age you are you always feel younger. In my head, I’m tall and slim and then I see a picture of myself and I go, ‘Actually, you’ve got no waist anymore and you’ve got big menopause boobs!’”

Nonsense! Ruth looks incredible. She also loves to keep fit and says walking the couple’s dog keeps her active. “I’m very fast with everything I do and Eamonn is more leisurely. When he takes the dog to the park he’ll sit and chat to people, whereas I’m the power-walker, like, ‘Right, trainers on, head down, come on, Maggie!’” she laughs.
