After a summer of love, drama, bombshells, laughter and tears, Love Island 2021 has finally come to an end.

The villa dominated ITV2 for eight weeks and the final saw couple Millie Court and Liam Reardon end up the winners.

They pipped Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran to the £50k prize after Faye Winter and Teddy Soares finished third and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank in fourth place. Some 2.8 million viewers tuned in for the live final, hosted by Laura Whitmore – in which Welsh bricklayer Liam asked fashion buyer’s administrator Millie, from Essex, to be his girlfriend just before they were crowned.

And fans saw Millie, 24, open the prize envelope and have to decide whether to keep the money for herself or share it with Liam, 22. In a happy ending, the cash was split equally.

Here, the “real-life Gavin & Stacey” talk about their experiences on the show and their plans for the future...

Hi, guys! You won Love Island 2021 – how does it feel?

Liam: It’s a surreal feeling, we never thought this would ever happen. We’ve done it together and we’re on top of the world. We couldn’t be happier.

Millie: It had been fourth and third place and then it got to us, the final two couples, that’s when it hit and I was like, “OK, this is actually between first and second place now!”

Millie, you were the one who opened the £50,000 envelope – was there ever a moment when you thought about not splitting it?
