While it’s an often overused cliché, what you see on screen is exactly what you get off it – if a little more potty-mouthed and chaotic.
As Charlene White, Jane Moore, Nadia Sawalha and Katie Piper pose for the cameras, they laugh, joke and even break into an energetic rendition of It’s Raining Men.
It’s also clear they’re good friends with the rest of their panel co-stars, as they gently rib Janet Street-Porter’s moody persona, Linda Robson’s unique singing voice and Denise Welch’s habit of saying inappropriate things just as they’re about to go live.
And after we’ve wrapped, Nadia, 57, and Jane, 59, who launched the show back in 1999 alongside Kaye Adams, decide to head off for an impromptu drink and catch-up.
“We have a WhatsApp group and even when you’re not on the show, it’s going off,” Katie, 38 tells us. “It’s a genuine camaraderie.”
Newsreader Charlene, 41, adds, “You’ve got intelligent women who love this programme and only ever want the best for it and are there for you. I learnt that pretty quickly and I’ve loved the ride ever since. I feel really blessed to be a part of their clan.”
