Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you’ll be familiar with Anya Taylor-Joy, the young actress who has taken Hollywood by storm thanks to her lead role in Netflix’s hugely popular series The Queen’s Gambit.
Now the Miami-born star, who also holds British citizenship, has received rave reviews for her latest role in director Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller, Last Night In Soho. She stars as Sandie, a stunning and mysterious nightclub singer in 60s Soho.
Luckily Anya, 25, is a huge fan of the decade and gets to perform a haunting version of Petula Clark’s hit Downtown for the movie, which she has even released as a single.
Taking to Instagram, she said about the track, “It’s not every day you’re asked to record several versions of an iconic song. The sounds of the 60s was what first made me fall in love with music so I was overjoyed when Edgar asked me to give it a go.”
