DAVID TLALE is arguably one of the most decorated fashion designers in SA and boasts experience that spans over 15 years.
He now has a new show set to air on SABC 3, The Intern By David Tlale, where 12 hopeful designers battle it out for the title of assistant designer to Tlale. We caught up with him to chat about his show, the importance of education in fashion, and why he’s always wearing black clothing.
How important is it for established fashion designers to help up and coming designers to realise their dreams?
It’s very important because we have to grow the clothing and textile industry and make sure it’s sustainable for the generations to come. We have to share knowledge with the youngsters so that they’re able to run and manage their own brand; it’s not just about being fabulous and slaying, but it’s about actually practicing the business of fashion.
Who should be watching The Intern By David Tlale and why?
