Life With Prince Louis
Royal Britain Presents Royal Life|Issue 37

Our hugely popular Royal Life specials on the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle meant that we couldn’t give this year’s other big Royal event – the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child – as much coverage as it deserved. So it’s time to play catch-up, and also take a look at what the proud parents have been doing since starting life as a family of five!

Life With Prince Louis
As every Royal Life reader already knows, on Monday April 23rd 2018 Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, the wife of Prince William, gave birth to the couple’s third child, a son who is now the fifth in line to the British throne.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth, at 11.01 a.m. local time at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west London. An official announcement from Kensington Palace stated that the newest arrival to the Royal Family weighed 8lbs 7oz (3.8 kilograms), and that both mother and baby were doing well.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” Kensington Palace also said in the statement.

Prince William had left the hospital for a short time Monday afternoon, before returning with his other children Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, then 2. As the three Royals entered the hospital, Princess Charlotte waved over her shoulder at the reporters gathered on the other side of the street.

Shortly before 6pm both parents emerged onto the steps of the hospital’s Lindo Wing to introduce the baby to the world’s media. The Duchess, who was wearing a striking, raspberryred dress, cradled her baby as the couple waved to well-wishers. Wrapped in a white blanket and wearing a white hat, the baby appeared to be sleeping. Afterwards, Prince William drove his family home, with Catherine sitting in the back with the baby.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have received.”

The statement continued: “They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes.”
