It wasn’t very easy in the beginning. But acting was something I always wanted to do. So I decided to work on it. When I moved from my hometown Gwalior to Delhi to prepare for engineering, I kept auditioning for roles but things didn’t work out. I shifted to Mumbai and joined DY Patil college and simultaneously, joined acting classes. In my second year of college, things started working for me.
You don’t really have a filmi background. What made you choose acting as a career?
I used to watch a lot of movies as a child and that’s how I developed my interest in stardom. By the time I was in the 10th standard, I was very clear that acting was something I wanted to do. I never wanted to be a doctor or an engineer. I was only studying because my mom wanted me to study.
From Pyaar Ka Punchnama to Akaash Vani, you are always seen playing the character of a guy who is immensely in love yet taken for granted. So are you Rajat or Akaash in real life as well?
