Adam Sharp, the new President and CEO of NATAS, discusses the changes you’ll see at the Daytime Emmys

Soap Opera Digest: When you were assigned this post, what were your goals? What were you hoping to do with NATAS and the Daytime Emmys in particular?

Adam Sharp: I looked at just the name of the organization to begin with: The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. That definition of television itself has changed so much in recent years. There was, I think, a real need for transition, to look at how we reflect the modern platform definition of television and how we engage with new communities recognizing the history and legacy of the brand, and changing and adapting. That translates into many different facets of the business. It meant looking at our branding, looking at our digital strategy, looking at the categories in our shows, how we produced the events, how we delivered those events. It’s been hitting a lot of targets all at once, but for less than a year in, I think we’ve made a lot of progress.

Digest: It looks like the first thing that happened was the branding and the new logo. What was the thinking behind that?
